KASSEL — B-Human, the formidable robot soccer team hailing from the University of Bremen and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), clinched yet another victory at the RoboCup German Open 2024 held in Kassel. With a remarkable goal difference of 46:2, B-Human asserted its dominance in the RoboCup Standard Platform League, extending its unparalleled winning streak.
Competing against eight formidable teams from Germany, the Netherlands, and Canada, B-Human showcased unparalleled skill and strategy throughout the tournament. In a thrilling final match against the HTWK Robots from Leipzig, B-Human emerged triumphant with a resounding score of 4:1, securing its place at the pinnacle of robot soccer excellence.
The journey to victory was marked by an unbeaten streak, with B-Human winning all seven matches with remarkable ease. Finishing the preliminary round as the top team with a goal difference of 32:1, B-Human displayed unwavering determination and precision in every game. The semi-final clash against the Nao Devils from TU Dortmund ended in a convincing 10:0 victory, paving the way for an intense showdown in the final.
Despite facing formidable opposition in the final match, B-Human maintained its composure and strategic prowess to clinch the title. The team’s impeccable performance sets the stage for the upcoming RoboCup World Cup in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, where B-Human aims to secure its 11th world championship title.
Adapting to new regulations is a hallmark of B-Human’s success, with the team seamlessly incorporating changes to the Laws of the Game. This year’s modifications, including the recognition of referee gestures and rules for indirect free kicks, were meticulously implemented by B-Human, reflecting the team’s thorough preparation and dedication to excellence.
Led by Dr. Thomas Röfer from the DFKI research department Cyber-Physical Systems and Dr. Tim Laue from the Multisensory Interactive Systems group at the University of Bremen, B-Human comprises 26 talented students, one alumnus, and two PhD students. The team’s success is further bolstered by the support of sponsors, including CONTACT Software, JUST ADD AI, cellumation, Ubica Robotics, and Alumni der Universität Bremen e.V.
