SYDNEY — SoftBank Robotics Australia has partnered with Sushi Machines, a leading distributor in the food service industry, to introduce advanced robotic and AI solutions to restaurants across Australia. Central to this collaboration is the launch of the Gausium Tray Delivery Robot, “Delivery X1,” which will be showcased at the Food Service Australia exhibition from April 30 to May 2 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The Delivery X1 is a sleek, state-of-the-art robot designed to enhance efficiency in restaurant operations. With advanced navigation technology from Gausium, the Delivery X1 can transport food, beverages, and replenishment items across its four trays while seamlessly navigating complex environments. It uses Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) technology to create semantic maps of its surroundings, detecting and avoiding people and obstacles to ensure uninterrupted service.
The robot offers a user-friendly interface, allowing operators to manage tasks via a touchscreen or mobile app. It is designed to complement restaurant staff by assisting during peak hours, delivering meals, and even clearing dishes. By integrating robotics, restaurant staff can focus on upskilling and improving customer service, driving greater efficiency and satisfaction for diners.
Kenichi Yoshida, Chief Business Officer at SoftBank Robotics Group, emphasized the transformative potential of robotics in the food and beverage industry, stating, “Our partnership with Sushi Machines aims to redefine restaurant operations, combining robotics, IoT, and smart solutions to create more efficient and profitable businesses.”
