LA DÉFENSE — Thales, a leading provider of technology and security solutions, today announced a strategic collaboration with Google Cloud and Intel, aimed at bolstering data security across cloud environments. This initiative integrates Thales’s CipherTrust Data Security Platform (CDSP) with Google Cloud’s Confidential Computing and Intel’s Trust Authority, providing enterprises robust end-to-end data protection (E2EDP), according to a press release published on EuropaWire.

The collaboration represents a significant advancement in protecting data at all stages—rest, transit, and use—especially for enterprises handling sensitive information such as intellectual property, AI models, and personal data. With increasing volumes of sensitive data being migrated to the cloud, this partnership addresses the growing demand for comprehensive security solutions that maintain data privacy and integrity.

Todd Moore, Vice President of Data Security Products at Thales, highlighted the importance of this partnership: “Our close collaboration with Google Cloud and Intel increases our customers’ trust in their cloud migration by enabling them to protect and control their data at every state with fully verifiable attestation.”

A key feature of the security platform is its foundational use of Intel® Trust Domain Extensions for Confidential Compute and Intel® Trust Authority, which ensures the integrity of workloads and safeguards data across all management stages. Purnam Sheth, Vice President and General Manager of Trust and Security Products, SATG at Intel, stated, “This groundbreaking platform meets complex requirements for data protection, controlled access, security, and compliance in Google Cloud.”

The security solution is designed around the principle of separation of duties, where customers maintain control over encryption keys and their locations, enhancing trust and reducing risks of unauthorized access. This setup allows for migration of existing workloads or creation of new ones that require zero trust, confidential computing, and Confidential AI on Google Cloud.

Brian Roddy, VP of Product Management at Google Cloud, emphasized the critical role of Confidential Computing in providing secure and private environments for customer workloads, stating, “Offering our customers solutions like Thales’ encryption key management expertise, combined with Intel’s Trust Authority attestation, enables the choice of even stronger privacy controls.”

The collaboration not only marks a milestone in cloud data security but also celebrates Thales’s continued recognition within the Google Cloud ecosystem. For the second consecutive year, Thales has been honored with the 2024 Google Cloud Technology Partner of the Year Award for Security – Data Protection.

As businesses increasingly rely on cloud technologies, the partnership between Thales, Google Cloud, and Intel sets a new standard in securing digital infrastructures, ensuring that sensitive data and workloads are protected comprehensively across global cloud platforms.
