SUNNYVALE/ SAN JOSE — Synopsys, a leader in silicon-to-systems design solutions, and SiMa.ai, a pioneer in machine learning system-on-chip (MLSoC) solutions, have announced a strategic partnership to accelerate the development of AI-driven silicon and software for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and in-vehicle infotainment (IVI). The collaboration aims to deliver cutting-edge tools that optimize hardware-software co-design, meeting the growing demands for AI-powered features in next-generation vehicles.

This joint solution integrates Synopsys’ expertise in electronic design automation (EDA), automotive-grade IP, and hardware verification with SiMa.ai’s ML accelerator (MLA) IP and flexible machine learning software stack. Together, the two companies will provide automakers with customizable, workload-optimized SoCs and chiplets to support real-time, multi-modal edge AI applications that define future automotive experiences.

Addressing Key Automotive Challenges

Modern software-defined vehicle (SDV) architectures struggle to meet the performance, power efficiency, and reliability demands of AI-driven applications, especially those powered by generative AI (GenAI). Synopsys and SiMa.ai aim to resolve these challenges with:

  • Early Architecture Exploration: Enabling design teams to balance performance, power, and application-specific requirements for customized or third-party SoCs.
  • Accelerated Development: A shift-left approach for software development using virtual prototyping and emulation to optimize integration, speed up time-to-market, and deliver real-time GenAI functionality.
  • Cost-Efficient Solutions: Customizable, high-performance ML SoCs and chiplets, coupled with SiMa.ai’s user-friendly ML tools, to deliver differentiated automotive experiences.
  • Future-Proof AI Capabilities: Supporting continuous upgrades with AI edge solutions, including virtual prototypes for testing and over-the-air (OTA) updates.

Industry Leaders Speak on Innovation

Ravi Subramanian, Head of the Product Management and Markets Group at Synopsys, emphasized the collaboration’s impact:
