SAN FRANCISCO — The newly launched Stargate Project is set to invest a staggering $500 billion over the next four years to build a cutting-edge AI infrastructure in the United States. With an immediate commitment of $100 billion, the initiative aims to bolster American leadership in artificial intelligence, create hundreds of thousands of jobs, and deliver profound economic benefits worldwide. The project is not only geared toward the re-industrialization of the U.S. but also seeks to establish a strategic capability that will enhance national security for the U.S. and its allies.

Stargate’s initial funding partners include major players such as SoftBank, OpenAI, Oracle, and MGX. SoftBank and OpenAI are the leading partners, with SoftBank managing the financial responsibilities while OpenAI takes charge of operational aspects. The project will be led by Masayoshi Son, who will serve as the chairman.

Key technology partners, including Arm, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Oracle, and OpenAI, are integral to the development of this ambitious infrastructure. The buildout has already commenced in Texas, with additional locations under consideration across the country as final agreements are made.

The collaboration between Oracle, NVIDIA, and OpenAI will play a pivotal role in constructing and operating the computing system required for this initiative. This partnership builds on a long-standing relationship between OpenAI and NVIDIA, which dates back to 2016, and also leverages the more recent collaboration between OpenAI and Oracle.

Furthermore, OpenAI’s ongoing partnership with Microsoft will continue to flourish, as OpenAI plans to increase its use of Microsoft’s Azure platform. The additional computing power provided through this collaboration will enable OpenAI to further advance its work in training leading AI models and delivering innovative products and services.

As the Stargate Project moves forward, its contributors are united in their vision of harnessing AI—particularly AGI (Artificial General Intelligence)—for the benefit of humanity.
