ZUG — Siemens Smart Infrastructure has unveiled Electrification X, a highly scalable Internet-of-Things (IoT) software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution designed to transform electrification infrastructure. This latest offering is a part of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, an open digital business platform aimed at accelerating digital transformation and value creation, according to a press release published on EuropaWire.
Expanding the Siemens Xcelerator Portfolio
Electrification X follows the launch of Building X in 2022, a scalable and digital building platform, and Gridscale X in February 2024, an advanced grid management software. With Electrification X, Siemens further strengthens its commitment to pioneering technology in the electrification sector.
Features and Capabilities
Built on scalable cloud services, Electrification X aims to manage, optimize, and automate the electrification infrastructure of commercial, industrial, and utility customers. The software enhances efficiency and performance while reducing costs and CO2 emissions.
Matthias Rebellius, Managing Board Member of Siemens AG and CEO of Smart Infrastructure, stated, “Our vision is to make our world more sustainable by driving the electrification of everything. Digitalization sits at the heart of enabling that vision and with the addition of Electrification X to the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, we are making it easier than ever before for companies to digitally transform their electrification infrastructure, faster and at scale.”
Core Design Principles
Electrification X is developed with key design principles of interoperability, flexibility, openness, availability as a service, and the highest level of cybersecurity. The software suite includes applications for Load Management, Network Fault Management, Asset Management, Sustainability Energy Management, and OT Companion. These tools will help renewable generators, transmission system operators (TSOs), distribution system operators (DSOs), industries, and infrastructure customers enhance productivity, reliability, asset utilization, energy efficiency, and sustainable innovation.
First Pilot Customer and Future Prospects
Aral AG, a subsidiary of the BP Group, has been announced as the first pilot customer for Electrification X. Aral will use the Load Management application to oversee its EV charging stations in Germany and Austria. This system provides transparency into the EV charging network’s status and load, along with remote control and dynamic load management of the charging stations.
As public charging infrastructure expansion is crucial for accelerating electric mobility, Electrification X Load Management stands out by offering critical insights and control to operators like Aral.
Showcase at Hannover Messe
Siemens will showcase Electrification X at its booth in Hall 9 at Hannover Messe from April 22 to 26. This event will provide an opportunity for attendees to see the capabilities of Electrification X firsthand.
