MUNICH — Siemens, in a recent announcement, revealed its plans to deepen its collaboration with NVIDIA, aiming to contribute to the development of the industrial metaverse. The company intends to introduce immersive visualization capabilities powered by the latest NVIDIA Omniverse Cloud APIs to its Siemens Xcelerator platform, thereby enhancing the utilization of AI-driven digital twin technology. At the NVIDIA GTC event, Siemens and NVIDIA jointly showcased how generative AI can revolutionize the visualization of complex data, enabling photorealism and presenting a use case with sustainable shipbuilder HD Hyundai leveraging this technology for product development.

Roland Busch, President and CEO of Siemens AG, emphasized the transformative potential of this collaboration, stating, “We will revolutionize how products and experiences are designed, manufactured, and serviced.” He further elaborated on the vision of enabling customers to interact with products in a realistic environment, thanks to accelerated computing, generative AI, and Omniverse integration across the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio.

Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, echoed the sentiment, highlighting the significant impact of Omniverse and generative AI on industrial enterprises. He praised Siemens for bringing NVIDIA platforms to their customers, thereby opening new opportunities for industry leaders to develop AI-enabled digital twins at various scales.

As part of the collaboration, Siemens is set to unveil a new product later this year for Teamcenter® X, its cloud-based Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software. This product, powered by NVIDIA Omniverse technologies, aims to provide engineering teams with an ultra-intuitive, photorealistic, real-time, and physics-based digital twin, streamlining workflows and minimizing errors.

One of the key features of this collaboration is the utilization of generative AI to accelerate the setup and adjustment of details in photorealistic renderings. Tasks that previously took days can now be completed in hours, enabling stakeholders to gain deeper insights into product appearance and make more informed decisions. HD Hyundai, a prominent player in sustainable ship manufacturing, stands to benefit significantly from this collaboration by visualizing and interacting with digital twins of ships, improving project understanding and customer experience while reducing errors and costs.

Taejin Lee, Chief Information Officer & Chief Digital Officer of HD Hyundai, expressed confidence in Siemens’ Teamcenter for product lifecycle management and highlighted the anticipated benefits of the collaboration in terms of visualization and project understanding.

In summary, the collaboration between Siemens and NVIDIA holds promise for revolutionizing industrial processes through advanced visualization and AI-driven technologies, with potential benefits spanning design, manufacturing, and customer experience enhancement.
