WALLDORF — SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) has officially become a member of the prestigious Stanford University Human-Centered Intelligence (HAI) Corporate Affiliate Program, according to a press release published on EuropaWire

The move signifies SAP’s commitment to supporting Stanford HAI’s endeavors in research, policy, and education, particularly in the responsible development and implementation of artificial intelligence (AI). By joining forces, SAP aims to contribute its expertise and resources to explore the transformative potential of generative AI in various industries and economies.

Juergen Mueller, Chief Technology Officer and Executive Board member of SAP SE, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating, “Generative AI offers a whole new world of opportunities to simplify and optimize business processes. As AI evolves at a rapid pace, we need to ensure that it is developed with three guiding principles: relevance, reliability, and responsibility.”

SAP, with over 50 years of experience in business processes and technology, is poised to leverage its global presence to drive advancements in AI across finance, supply chain, human resources, sustainability, and other critical business areas.

According to James Landay, vice director and faculty director of research for HAI at Stanford, “Stanford’s HAI has played a pivotal role in accelerating advancements in foundational models, particularly in the realm of AI safety and the consideration of this new technology’s societal impacts.”

The collaboration between SAP and Stanford HAI is expected to unlock novel use cases and contribute to new research endeavors. Panos Madamopoulos, managing director of Industry Programs and Partnerships at HAI, expressed excitement about working with SAP, highlighting the potential to foster research collaborations across SAP’s entire AI stack.

The engagement between SAP and Stanford University is not only beneficial for the involved parties but also holds promise for the broader technology and business community. It underscores the importance of ethical and responsible AI development in shaping the future of various industries.
