SANTA CLARA — NVIDIA has announced the launch of its inaugural research and development (R&D) center in Vietnam, reflecting its confidence in the country’s growing potential as a hub for artificial intelligence (AI). The new center, established in collaboration with the Vietnamese government, aims to foster innovation and strengthen Vietnam’s position in the global AI landscape.
The Vietnam R&D Center will focus on software development, leveraging the country’s skilled STEM workforce. NVIDIA plans to engage with a dynamic network of industry leaders, startups, government entities, universities, and students to accelerate AI adoption across key sectors.
Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative: “We are thrilled to open NVIDIA’s R&D center in Vietnam to help accelerate the country’s AI transformation. By partnering with researchers, startups, and enterprise organizations, we aim to create groundbreaking AI solutions here in Vietnam.”
The center will serve as a platform for nurturing innovation, allowing researchers and startups to develop AI applications tailored to industries such as healthcare, education, transportation, and finance. Vietnam’s rapid economic growth in technology, automotive, electronics, and textiles, combined with government support, has made it a prime destination for AI research and development.
Since 2021, Vietnam has integrated AI into its national digital transformation strategy, aiming to cultivate a robust AI ecosystem and position itself as a regional leader in technology and innovation. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highlighted the importance of the collaboration, stating, “Innovation is central to Vietnam’s development strategy. This partnership between the Vietnamese government and NVIDIA will advance AI technology and strengthen Southeast Asia’s high-tech ecosystem.”
NVIDIA has been actively investing in Vietnam’s tech sector for the past eight years. Through its Inception program, the company supports over 100 Vietnamese AI startups and partners with 65 universities. Last year, NVIDIA expanded its presence by collaborating with FPT Smart Cloud, marking its first cloud partnership in Vietnam.
The new R&D center reinforces NVIDIA’s commitment to Vietnam’s digital transformation, aiming to drive innovation and position the country as a leader in AI research and development in Southeast Asia.
