MENLO PRAK — In October 2023, Meta launched the Llama Impact Grants program, inviting global proposals that utilized its open-source AI models to tackle challenges in education, environmental protection, and technological innovation. Today, Meta proudly announces the winners of both the Llama Impact Grants and the Llama Impact Innovation Awards.
Llama Impact Grants
The first round of Llama Impact Grants will provide $500,000 each to Wadhwani AI, Digital Green in collaboration with One Acre Fund, and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, with Jacaranda Health receiving $300,000 as a runner-up. These projects aim to utilize AI to enhance English literacy in Indian public schools, develop multilingual AI chatbots for agricultural support in Africa, and improve cancer patient matching to clinical trials in the U.S. Additionally, Jacaranda Health seeks to expand its digital maternal health tool across several African nations.
Llama Impact Innovation Awards
In regions such as Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America, Meta is recognizing outstanding efforts through its Llama Impact Innovation Awards. Awardees will receive up to $35,000 in financial support and ad credits to advance their work with Llama AI models.
