STOCKHOLM — Ericsson Research Türkiye has announced its pivotal role in the groundbreaking ROBUST-6G project, launched as part of the latest Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) call. This collaborative initiative aims to pioneer innovative solutions in 6G security technologies, vital for addressing the complex and diverse needs of future use cases, according to a press release published on EuropaWire.
As anticipation mounts for the advent of 6G networks, characterized by heightened programmability and adaptability, the need for robust security measures becomes paramount. The ROBUST-6G project endeavors to meet these demands by introducing cutting-edge approaches for security management across physical, services, and infrastructure levels. Through the utilization of Zero-touch Network and Service Management (ZSM) and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) techniques, the project aims to design and implement a fully automated end-to-end smart network and service security management framework.
Işıl Yalçın, Vice President and Head of Ericsson Türkiye at Ericsson Middle East and Africa, expresses the significance of Ericsson’s involvement in the project, stating, “6G is the next generation of wireless technology that will deliver truly omnipresent wireless intelligence and has the potential to revolutionize the future. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is expected to have a major impact on future technology evolution as well as its security. At the same time, the trustworthiness of AI components in networks is also important. We are proud to be a part of the ROBUST-6G project, contributing to the research efforts on AI enabled 6G security.”
The ROBUST-6G project, led by Ericsson Research Türkiye in collaboration with 12 international partners, aims to optimize computation requirements, minimize energy consumption, and enhance the performance of AI/ML-driven functionalities. This initiative aligns with the overarching goals of the SNS JU, which seeks to advance smart networks and services across Europe through innovative research, large-scale trials, and collaborative partnerships.
With 27 research, innovation, and trials projects financed by SNS JU commencing operations in January 2024, including ROBUST-6G, the landscape of smart networks and services is poised for significant advancements. These projects promise breakthrough innovations, experimental platforms, and large-scale trials, shaping the digital connected future and driving world-class research in the field.
