BONN — Deutsche Telekom is paving the way for the future of personal communication with its groundbreaking “Concept T” design study, showcased at the Mobile World Congress 2024. Offering a glimpse into the evolution of telephones, routers, and internet access, the Concept T envisions a world of human-centered communication powered by cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), Web 3, computer vision, WiFi sensing, and holography, according to a press release published on EuropaWire.
Claudia Nemat, Member of the Board of Management for Technology and Innovation at Deutsche Telekom, elaborates on the vision behind Concept T, stating, “Concept T is researching how hologram telephony, among other things, could become a reality. It is our idea of an advanced router. Not on the shelves tomorrow, but in our heads and laboratories today.” The study encompasses three design studies, each offering unique insights into the future of communication, with routers serving as the focal point.
Design Study 1: “Concept View” – Redefining Personal Assistance and Communication
The “Concept View” introduces Emma, an AI-based avatar, as the central personal assistant for all aspects of daily life. Emma’s capabilities extend beyond conventional personal assistants, offering assistance in shopping, entertainment curation, household management, and telecommunications services. Equipped with Web 3 applications, Emma serves as a digital wallet manager, ensuring seamless integration with Deutsche Telekom services while prioritizing user privacy and data protection.
Design Study 2: “Concept Level” – Modular and Customizable Communication Solutions
“Concept Level” introduces a modular router system that enables personalized configurations to suit individual needs. Modules include smart home controls, WiFi sensing for security monitoring, Web 3 functionalities for cryptocurrency management, and mesh modules for enhanced connectivity. The system offers flexibility and adaptability, catering to diverse user preferences and requirements.
Design Study 3: “Concept Buddy” – A Mobile and Interactive Personal Butler
“Concept Buddy” embodies the friendly face of AI, offering mobility and versatility in household assistance. With features like air quality monitoring, interactive projection capabilities, and entertainment delivery, Concept Buddy enriches the user experience while exemplifying the seamless integration of AI and robotics.
Deutsche Telekom emphasizes that the Concept T variants represent potential future directions rather than imminent products. However, the study underscores the company’s commitment to innovation and human-centered design in shaping the future of communication.
Visitors to the Mobile World Congress can experience firsthand the innovative Concept T designs and explore the possibilities of future communication technologies. The Concept T exhibition exemplifies Deutsche Telekom’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of technology and redefining the way we connect and communicate in the digital age.
