JAKARTA/ SINGAPORE — Databricks, the leading Data and AI company, has announced its plans to extend its services to the AWS Asia Pacific (Jakarta) Region in early 2025, as part of its growing investment in the ASEAN market. This move comes on the heels of over 70% annualized growth over the past three years, driven by a sharp increase in demand for data intelligence solutions. The expansion aims to address the rising needs for data, AI, and governance solutions among Indonesian enterprises.
With the increasing adoption of generative AI, Indonesian organizations are recognizing the transformative power of data as a key driver of innovation and competitive advantage. By bringing the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform to Jakarta, the company marks an important milestone in its ongoing commitment to empowering businesses across the ASEAN region.
Many companies across ASEAN, including Standard Chartered Bank, Ikano Retail (IKEA franchise), Maya, and Xendit, are already leveraging the Databricks platform on AWS to accelerate their digital transformation, improve operational efficiency, and unlock new business opportunities. This expansion will provide Indonesian organizations with the tools to maximize their data’s potential, enabling them to further drive their digital evolution.
The Databricks Data Intelligence Platform provides organizations with easy access to advanced analytics and AI applications, combining their data with powerful AI models customized for specific business needs. Built on a lakehouse foundation using open data formats and governance, the platform ensures complete control and transparency of customer data. Additionally, the platform is available through AWS Marketplace, allowing customers in Indonesia and around the world to seamlessly discover, purchase, and deploy Databricks cloud solutions.
Databricks has also recently enhanced its collaboration with AWS, offering new capabilities like Databricks Mosaic AI on AWS Trainium chips. This technology enables Indonesian enterprises to rapidly develop, fine-tune, and deploy custom large language models (LLMs) using their own data, with superior cost performance. The integration with AWS Marketplace further streamlines the adoption of Databricks, making it easier for businesses to scale generative AI applications while retaining full control over their data and intellectual property.
“We are excited to support Databricks’ expansion into Indonesia, which aligns with AWS’s IDR$71 trillion investment in the AWS Asia Pacific (Jakarta) Region,” said Kirsten Gilbertson, Head of Partner Management for ASEAN at AWS. “This partnership will enable businesses in Indonesia to manage their data securely, while driving innovation and AI advancements to meet industry-specific demands.”
Cecily Ng, Vice President and General Manager of ASEAN and Greater China at Databricks, added, “Bringing the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform to Indonesia highlights our commitment to helping Indonesian enterprises unlock the full potential of their data, using AWS’s scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure to drive business transformation in the digital economy.”
