SAN FRANCISCO — Databricks and SAP have unveiled a strategic collaboration with the launch of SAP Databricks, a new product that integrates the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform into SAP’s newly launched Business Data Cloud. This integration provides customers with the ability to seamlessly combine SAP’s business-critical data with the capabilities of Databricks, offering a unified solution for data warehousing, engineering, and AI development. With the backing of a $250 million investment aimed at supporting deployment and migration efforts, the partnership aims to unlock significant value from SAP data, enabling enterprises to harness the full potential of their data across different business functions.
In today’s increasingly data-driven world, businesses are looking to enhance their ability to leverage data from multiple systems. SAP Databricks allows for the easy integration of SAP data with other enterprise data, regardless of whether the data is stored on legacy systems or modern platforms. Through the use of Delta Sharing, a bi-directional data sharing framework, organizations can effortlessly merge their SAP data with other datasets, eliminating complex data engineering tasks and dramatically improving productivity. All of this is governed by Databricks’ Unity Catalog, ensuring consistent security and data governance, allowing organizations to confidently conduct data science, SQL analytics, and AI model development at scale.
Ali Ghodsi, Co-founder and CEO of Databricks, emphasized the power of this collaboration, noting, “Every organization is searching for a faster, more reliable way to translate their data into strategic advantage. Together with SAP, we’re helping businesses seamlessly unify their data sources, streamline analytics, and accelerate the development of domain-specific AI applications.”
Muhammad Alam, Executive Board Member at SAP, also spoke about the transformative nature of the partnership, saying, “This partnership represents a turning point in how enterprise data is harnessed. By combining SAP’s mission-critical applications with Databricks’ cutting-edge data engineering and AI capabilities, we are helping customers unlock the next era of digital innovation.”
The integration also enables companies to easily build domain-specific AI using their SAP data through Mosaic AI capabilities, which can be used to unlock agent systems for business-critical functions. The combined solution provides organizations with the flexibility and power needed to innovate and modernize business processes, including ERP integration, AI-driven personalization, and data-driven decision-making.
Industry leaders from Accenture, Capgemini, Deloitte, and EY have praised the SAP Databricks offering for its ability to break down data silos and enable smarter, faster decision-making. These companies are already working closely with Databricks and SAP to help clients leverage the solution for AI-driven business transformation.
SAP Databricks is now available as part of the SAP Business Data Cloud, with a staged rollout on major cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. For more information on the offering, join the SAP Business Unleashed virtual event.
