SAN FRANCISCO — Databricks, the leading Data and AI company, has announced the general availability of its Data Intelligence Platform on Amazon Web Services (AWS) GovCloud, following its attainment of the Department of Defense (DoD) Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide Impact Level 5 (IL5) Provisional Authorization (PA). This achievement empowers U.S. Department of Defense agencies, mission partners, and select federal institutions to manage and leverage highly sensitive data with cutting-edge analytics and AI tools securely.
“We are witnessing an unprecedented demand for advanced data intelligence solutions across DoD agencies,” said Jude Boyle, VP of Federal at Databricks. “The IL5 authorization allows us to accelerate innovation, enabling the DoD to address national security challenges more effectively while supporting the warfighter.”
Revolutionizing Federal Data Management
The Databricks Data Intelligence Platform combines robust AI models with customers’ data to deliver intelligent applications. Built on a lakehouse architecture, the platform offers open data formats and governance, ensuring complete customer control over data assets. Federal agencies can now employ a data mesh framework powered by tools like Unity Catalog and Delta Sharing to streamline secure data access, governance, and inter-organizational collaboration.
This framework enables the DoD and federal agencies to process Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and Unclassified National Security Information (U-NSI) while complying with strict regulations. By incorporating the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) High baseline and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) support, Databricks further solidifies its commitment to federal compliance.
Elevating National Security Capabilities
“Delivering the full capabilities of the Databricks platform to the DoD is a significant step forward for national security,” said Rory Patterson, Chairman of the Board, Databricks Federal. “As a retired Army Officer, I recognize the transformative potential this technology has for our military. Databricks is proud to provide the tools that enhance operational effectiveness in today’s modern battlespace.”
