LONDON — The Alan Turing Institute has announced the launch of the Turing University Network, an initiative aimed at fostering collaboration among UK universities with interests in data science and artificial intelligence (AI). This pilot network, comprising 36 universities selected from previous Turing university partners and Turing Network Development Award recipients, seeks to create better connections across the data science and AI landscape, promoting structured collaboration and inclusivity within the UK’s academic community, according to a press release published on EuropaWire .
Donna Brown, Director of Academic Engagement at The Alan Turing Institute, emphasized the significance of the Turing University Network in advancing the Institute’s objectives. She stated, “We’re delighted to launch a new UK-wide university network of data science and AI expertise via the Turing University Network. The network is crucial to successful delivery of the Institute Strategy, enables our role as a national convenor in the data science and AI landscape, and creates opportunity for meaningful collaboration where interests align across research and innovation, skills, and engagement.”
Through this network, the Institute aims to achieve three ambitious goals: advancing world-class research to address national and global challenges, fostering skills development for the future, and driving informed public discourse on AI and data science. By providing open access and minimal bureaucratic barriers, the Turing University Network aims to facilitate seamless collaboration, offering mechanisms to connect across the ecosystem and avenues for impactful research and innovation.
The launch of the Turing University Network underscores the Alan Turing Institute’s commitment to harnessing the potential of AI and data science for societal benefit, positioning itself as a national leader in fostering collaboration and driving innovation in this rapidly evolving field.
