TOKYO — Accenture (NYSE: ACN), a global leader in digital, cloud, and security services, announces its acquisition of digital engineering and operational technology capabilities from Trancom ITS, a prominent Japanese logistics technology services provider. This strategic move enables Accenture to bolster its Industry X service offerings, delivering hyper-automation solutions tailored to the evolving needs of manufacturing and logistics firms in Japan, according to a press release published on EuropaWire.

Hyper-automation solutions leverage advanced digital technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, to streamline business processes and optimize asset management. By integrating Trancom ITS’s expertise in systems integration, consulting, software development, and outsourcing, Accenture Industry X will enhance its capacity to drive operational efficiency and sustainability across client operations.

Tatsuya Nakayabu, senior managing director and lead for Accenture Industry X in Japan, emphasizes the transformative impact of combining Trancom ITS’s assets with Accenture’s AI and robotics capabilities. “We’re seeing significant demand from clients to help them automate manual processes in factories and warehouses,” Nakayabu states. “By combining assets from Trancom ITS with our AI and robotics capabilities, we can drive more value from these processes for clients and help them become more sustainable.”

The acquisition includes approximately 190 engineers from Trancom ITS, renowned for their specialization in cloud-based logistics systems and IoT-enabled warehouse optimization. This addition to Accenture’s talent pool further strengthens its ability to deliver innovative solutions that enhance supply chain management and operational performance.

One key area of focus for Accenture will be expanding its AI-powered supply chain management service, leveraging Trancom ITS’s logistics expertise to refine logistics and delivery planning, automate warehouse operations, and reduce manual labor.

Trancom ITS, a subsidiary of leading Japanese logistics company Trancom, has been instrumental in providing technology services to clients in the logistics, manufacturing, and information technology sectors. Following the acquisition, Trancom ITS will continue to serve Trancom, while other client relationships will transition to Accenture.

Accenture and Trancom intend to collaborate on joint solutions to accelerate the digital transformation journey of Trancom and other clients in the logistics and manufacturing industries.

This acquisition underscores Accenture’s commitment to strengthening its foothold in Japan’s engineering and manufacturing value chain. It follows a series of strategic acquisitions aimed at enhancing Accenture’s Industry X capabilities globally, including recent acquisitions such as T.A. Cook (Germany), Advoco (US), umlaut, Electro 80 (Australia), and Pollux (Brazil).

Completion of the acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions.
