SAN FRANCISCO — OpenAI is thrilled to announce the commencement of applications for the upcoming cohort of OpenAI Fellows, an esteemed program offering a paid 6-month apprenticeship in AI research.
Tailored for individuals aspiring to delve into the realm of AI research without a conventional background in the field, this program presents a unique opportunity for passionate learners.
Under the guidance of seasoned OpenAI researchers, each Fellow will have the privilege to immerse themselves in diverse research areas such as multi-agent reinforcement learning, generative models, robotics, and more. The journey begins with an initial two-month period dedicated to an immersive curriculum covering fundamental AI topics, exploration of ongoing research endeavors at OpenAI, and the formulation of a personalized research proposal.
Subsequently, for the following four months, Fellows will embark on their proposed research project under the mentorship of their designated expert.
The Fellows program is designed to welcome individuals from various disciplines aiming to transition into the realm of artificial intelligence research. The current cohort boasts talents from fields including genetics, software engineering, physics, and theoretical computer science. Successful applicants will showcase their passion for AI research through past projects or evident self–study endeavors.
Priority will be given to candidates willing to commit to full-time positions at OpenAI post-program. The compensation for the Fellows program is on par with selective Bay Area software internships.
